DTN COMMENTS:  Cash cattle country is slow this afternoon, with asking 
prices are around $258 to $260 in parts of Texas, there are still no bids 
on table in that area. A few bids are on the table though by a Regional 
in Eastern Nebraska, at $403, but far, they have been passed. Significant 
trade volume maybe be delayed until Wednesday or later. 

Today's slaughter totaled 109,000 head, 1,000 less than last week, and 
9,000 below a year ago. Cattle futures closed sharply higher on both live 
(up 150 to 297) and feeder cattle contracts, (200 to 345 higher). Beef 
cutouts are expected to close mixed with moderate to good box movement.
